The launch of the The International Spy Museum was a company-wide effort by Nesnadny + Schwartz, encompassing brand identity, marketing, signage, graphic standards, packaging, and involvement with the official opening ceremony and gala. It was a chance to really let loose on a fun topic with inventive copy-writing and a commitment to the secret conventions of spycraft.
Opening Gala Invitation | Our mandate was to make this an intriguing and appropriate invitation while maintaining equal parts mystery and directness. We achieved this by combining different layers and simple tricks such as red obscuring plastic and diecut code readers, with a backup layer of direct details.
Opening Ceremony Banners | We provided the design for a breakaway banner on the front of the building that aerial artists dressed as spies tore open on their descent down from the top. Being able to attend the opening ceremony and black tie gala was a beautiful moment of seeing our creativity brought to life.
Brand Identity Manual | The most complicated project I worked on for this client was developing and designing a complete brand identity manual, full of detailed specifications on the use of logos, illustrations, fonts, patterns, and icons. We pushed the limit of melding traditional spy language with graphic design terminology to produce a fun but strict set of guidelines.
